Light
Very hardy. Grows fastest in bright, filtered light but tolerates moderate light and even fluorescent lighting — great for offices.
Water
Water only when the soil is dry, then water deeply until it drains. Take care not to overwater.

Use a cactus or succulent mix. Fertilize every couple of months during the growing season. Slow-growing, so it needs no pruning.

Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Superba’ · Snake Plant, Mother-in-law’s Tongue
Superba is a robust, compact variety of the classic snake plant, native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria to the Congo. Like all snake plants, it’s a tough, drought-adapted succulent that stores water in its stiff, upright leaves and asks for very little in return.
Its broad, sword-shaped leaves are deep green, banded with lighter silvery-gray mottling and finished with a bright golden-yellow edge. The leaves grow in a dense, fanning rosette, giving it a bold, sculptural profile that anchors a shelf, desk, or floor corner.
It tolerates almost anything short of overwatering: bright light for fastest growth, but happily accepts moderate or even fluorescent light. Water only when the soil dries, use a gritty cactus mix, and it will quietly thrive for years.
It’s also one of the best-known air-purifying houseplants, and a popular choice for bedrooms.
