Plant Bio
Aglaonema ‘Siam Aurora’ · a Red Chinese Evergreen
The red Aglaonema is a modern, brightly colored Chinese Evergreen, bred from species native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Aglaonemas have been grown as easy, lucky houseplants for generations, and recent breeding has pushed them into vivid pinks and reds.
This variety pairs deep green centers with dramatic pink-and-red edges and veins, so the whole plant reads warm and colorful — a bold alternative to plain green foliage.
The trade-off versus the silvery types: red Aglaonemas need a bit more light to keep their color saturated, so give it medium to bright indirect light (never harsh sun). Otherwise it’s wonderfully forgiving — water when the top inch dries, keep it warm, and avoid cold drafts and soggy soil.
Colorful, easy, and air-purifying, it’s a standout houseplant — just keep it away from pets and children, as it’s toxic if chewed.
How is the red Aglaonema different?
- Bold pink-and-red variegation instead of silver/white.
- Wants more light than green or white types to keep color.
- Still easy, drought-tolerant, and air-purifying.
- Toxic if ingested — keep out of reach.
Note: Aglaonema is toxic if ingested and the sap can irritate skin. Keep away from pets and children. Grown for ornamental purposes and not intended for human or animal consumption.
