Lotus Hahnii is one of the prettiest of the compact “bird’s nest” snake plants — a dwarf, rosette-forming form of Sansevieria trifasciata native to Africa. It stays small and clustered rather than sending up tall blades.
Its short, silvery-banded leaves curve outward from the center in a way that resembles an opening lotus flower, giving it a calm, sculptural, almost zen quality that suits modern and minimalist spaces.
It has the full snake-plant toughness: happy in bright indirect light but tolerant of low light, extremely drought-tolerant, and watered only once the soil is completely dry in a gritty, fast-draining mix. Like all its relatives, it purifies indoor air.
