Full, direct sun. Cold temperatures and full sun together produce the most intense purple coloration.

Extremely drought tolerant. Water occasionally in summer; almost none in winter.

Fast-draining, lean cactus mix. Minimal feeding — rich soil reduces the purple coloration.
