Light
Thrives in low to bright indirect light, so it works nearly anywhere. Brighter light helps maintain its signature silvery-green color, while lower light is still well tolerated.

Water only when the soil is completely dry. It stores water in its thick leaves and is extremely drought-tolerant — overwatering is the most common problem.

Sansevieria trifasciata ‘Moonshine’ · a silvery Snake Plant
Moonshine is one of the most striking modern snake plants — a form of Sansevieria (now also classed as Dracaena) whose species come from West Africa. Instead of the bold green-and-yellow banding of a classic snake plant, Moonshine has broad, smooth, upright leaves in a soft, pale, silvery sage-green, sometimes edged with a fine dark line. The overall effect is sleek and almost monochrome.
Underneath that modern look it’s the same wonderfully tough plant. Sansevierias are among the most forgiving houseplants there are, handling bright light or shade, dry air, and long gaps between waterings thanks to their thick, water-storing leaves.
Brighter (indirect) light keeps the silvery color strongest, while low light is fine too. The only real mistake is overwatering — let the soil dry completely, use a gritty, well-draining mix, and never let it sit in water. It’s also a recognized air purifier.
Chic, hardy, and near-indestructible — just keep it away from pets and children, as snake plants are toxic if chewed.
