Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the flat green stems.
Water
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. As a rainforest cactus it’s not truly drought-tolerant, so don’t let it bake — but never keep it soggy either, or the stems will rot.
Humidity & Feeding
It enjoys higher humidity; mist it or set it near a humidifier if your air is dry. Use a well-draining, peat-based mix with perlite, and feed every 2–4 weeks during the growing season.

The Ric Rac Shark Fin is a jungle cactus native to Mexico — a world apart from spiny desert cacti. Rather than a prickly column, it grows long, flat, leaf-like stems that are deeply notched along both edges into a bold zig-zag, earning it nicknames like fishbone, zig-zag, and shark-fin cactus.
As an epiphyte it grows on tree branches in the wild rather than in soil, so it naturally trails and cascades — making it perfect for a hanging basket, especially in this larger 12-inch size. Mature plants can even produce large, fragrant flowers.
Care is easy but a little different from desert cacti: it wants bright, indirect light (no scorching sun), regular water once the top inch or two dries (it’s not truly drought-tolerant), and it appreciates humidity. Just avoid soggy soil, which causes rot.
