Bromeliads prefer medium to bright light. Some varieties can withstand direct sun but some cannot. If you keep your bromeliad in a window, protect it with a sheer curtain or translucent blinds.
They are adapted to withstand drought and will respond negatively to over-watering. It is important to keep bromeliads in a container that allows for quick drainage. Do not water until the top two inches of soil are dry. Bromeliads like humidity, so either set up a humidity tray, keep near other plants, or mist with a spray bottle.
