Care
Light
Loves bright light with a little direct sun, which keeps the blooms vivid and the plant compact. A sunny windowsill indoors or a bright, sheltered spot outdoors is ideal.
Water
Water only when the soil feels dry — like other succulents it stores water in its leaves and dislikes soggy roots. Empty any saucer so it never sits in water.
Soil & Feeding
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Feed lightly once a month while it is in bloom to encourage more flowers.
Quick Tip
Snip off spent flower clusters to keep it tidy and encourage a fresh flush of blooms.

Plant Bio
Kalanchoe blossfeldiana · the long-blooming Calandiva
Calandiva is a selected, double-flowered form of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana, a succulent native to the warm, dry regions of Madagascar. While the species has simple single flowers, Calandiva carries fully double, rose-shaped blooms packed onto upright stems above thick, scalloped leaves.
Because it is a true succulent, it stores water in its foliage and asks for very little — bright light and the occasional drink are enough to keep it flowering for a remarkably long stretch.
It’s a favorite gift and holiday plant, blooming in cheerful pinks, reds, whites, and oranges when many other plants are resting.
What makes it special?
- Double, rose-like flowers that last for many weeks.
- Tough, drought-tolerant succulent that’s hard to overwater — if you let it dry out.
- Compact size that fits any bright windowsill.
⚠️ Like all kalanchoes, Calandiva is toxic to cats and dogs if eaten — keep it out of reach of pets and children.
