Royal Albert Zebra Plant
Haworthiopsis attenuata ‘Royal Albert’ · Native to South Africa
A regal Zebra Plant cultivar with pronounced white tubercle banding on dark green leaves — a bold, striped pattern in a neat upright rosette. Tough, indoor-friendly, and pet-safe.
Available in 4½ inchCare
Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light and adapts well to typical indoor lighting — it tolerates lower light better than most succulents. Avoid harsh midday sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water
Water only when the soil is completely dry. Its thick, upright leaves store water efficiently, making it highly drought-tolerant. Always use a pot with good drainage to prevent root rot.
Soil & Feeding
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent soil, and fertilize lightly once a month during spring and summer.
Quick Tip
It produces offset “pups” at the base — leave them to form a cluster, or pot them up as new plants.

Plant Bio
Haworthiopsis attenuata ‘Royal Albert’ · a Zebra Plant cultivar
Royal Albert is a cultivar of Haworthiopsis attenuata (long known as Haworthia attenuata), the classic Zebra Plant from South Africa. Haworthias are close relatives of aloes and gasterias, and they’re among the easiest, most shade-tolerant succulents to keep indoors.
Like other zebra haworthias it forms a rosette of stiff, upright, dark-green leaves crossed with raised white bands of tubercles. What sets ‘Royal Albert’ apart is how pronounced and crisp that banding is — bold, regular white stripes against deep green that give it a genuinely regal look.
It stays small, clustering slowly with offsets, and tolerates lower indoor light better than most succulents — which is exactly why it makes such a reliable desk or windowsill plant.
Care is easy: bright indirect light, gritty soil, and water only when fully dry.
How is it different from a standard Zebra Plant?
- Its white banding is unusually bold and pronounced — hence “Royal.”
- It keeps the same neat, upright rosette form.
- It shares the same tough, shade-tolerant, pet-friendly nature.
Note: Haworthias are generally considered non-toxic and pet-safe, but are grown for ornament rather than eating. Overwatering is the main thing to avoid.
