Parodia ottonis subsp. horstii is a subspecies of one of the most common and beloved South American globe cacti, native to the grasslands of Brazil and Uruguay. The Parodia genus is renowned for being among the most free-flowering cacti in cultivation.
Its flattened to globular body is a fresh green, decorated with clusters of fine brown spines. It is one of the few cacti that looks genuinely attractive even when not in flower — the spine pattern and body shape are appealing year-round.
In spring and summer, it produces abundant bright yellow to golden flowers near the crown — one of the most cheerful sights in any cactus collection.
