Plant Bio

Cereus peruvianus monstrose · also called the Monstrose Peruvian Apple Cactus

Another monstrose form of Cereus peruvianus, the Melted Wax Cactus has a slightly different growth habit from the compact monstrose, producing longer, more flowing and wavy irregular columns.

The effect is one of slow-moving, solidified lava or dripped wax — an almost surreal, sculptural appearance that earns it immediate attention in any room. The blue-green body adds to the cool, otherworldly look.

It shares the easy-care, drought-tolerant nature of its parent species, making it as practical as it is dramatic.

What makes it special?

  • Longer, more flowing irregular columns than the compact monstrose form.
  • The “melted wax” effect is particularly pronounced in mature specimens.
  • Grows more quickly than the compact monstrose, putting on interesting new growth each season.

Note: Has reduced but present spines — handle with care. Keep away from children and pets. Grown for ornamental purposes only.
