Plant Bio
Echinopsis eyriesii · also called the Sea Urchin Cactus
Native to the grasslands of southern Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, Echinopsis eyriesii is one of the most iconic flowering cacti in cultivation, beloved for over a century for its astonishing floral display.
Its dark green, deeply ribbed globular body produces impossibly large flowers — long white tubes topped with a broad, fragrant bloom that can exceed 12 inches in height. The flowers open at dusk and are strongly fragrant through the night.
They last only a day or two, making their appearance a memorable event. Over time the plant clusters freely into large clumps, each head capable of producing multiple flowers simultaneously.

- Nocturnal, fragrant flowers are a truly multi-sensory experience.
- One of the most free-clustering Echinopsis, becoming more impressive each year.
